6/9/08 Clark Griffith League is back in action

The Clark Griffith Collegiate Baseball League (CGL) 2008 season is in full swing hosting several games in the last week despite the adverse weather. The heat wave didn’t stop the dedicated fans from turning out to watch America’s oldest and greatest summer tradition, the game of baseball. The pregame ceremony included Fred Crabtree, who received a lifetime achievement award for his longstanding commitment to the League. Also on hand for the game Saturday night was Vienna’s town Mayor Jane Seeman, who threw out the opening pitch as well as welcomed all who were in attendance.

The McLean Raiders in action at McLean High School defeated the Putty Hill Panthers Blue 12-1 in the first game and 1-0 in the second. At Waters Field in Vienna, VA the Vienna Senators defeated the Fairfax Nationals 9-4.
